![]() You reach the check-in desk exactly at 3:30 pm. You have to check-in at least half-an-hour before the departure time, otherwise the airlines won’t allow you to board the flight. So, to explain it through an example: Let’s say you have to board a flight, which is scheduled to depart at 4 pm. ![]() But what is exactly Schrödinger’s cat theory? In simple terms, it is the possibility of existence of multiple simultaneous realities at the same time. ‘Coherence’ is essentially based on a scientific theory referred to as Schrödinger’s cat theory. But unlike ‘Primer’, some answers become easily evident. Like ‘Primer’, there is a lot going on suddenly and a lot to wrap your head around. ![]() A clever plot device-the loss of cell phone signal because of the passing of a comet-is introduced early on and becomes the anchor of the movie. Such a start would seem like a gamble but the execution here is especially noteworthy because there is a sense of unease in the air. This is very important as it rapidly lures the viewer into a rather humdrum conversation about relationships and family and normal dinner chit-chat. A very unassuming start, of course, but it sets the mood effectively. The movie starts off with a group of friends meeting for dinner. It’s good that the title doesn’t give anything away and you get into the movie with a sense of wonder. I found it quite good and an interesting movie experience.Today, we are going to talk about another speculative gem of a movie – ‘Coherence’. ![]() It's has a "chose your own adventure" feature that actually allows you to chose what the main character will do next and the story is very Black Mirror style. Just wanted to add - watch the movie "Black Mirror: Bandersnatch " on Netflix. Some have a few gory elements as well - the more horror-esque movies seem to like using this "body horror" stuff. Some of the movies on the list have a few absurd moments, but I don't enjoy it that much when the "absurd" part it's used almost as a gimmick. But it's difficult to find them, since I'm not sure what genre to look for - maybe somewhere between Thriller and Horror? And of course there's also that thin balance between "weird" and "absurd". It's hard to describe but easy to recognise when it's there. Thanks :) I'm always on the look out for these weird, unsettling but also kinda downbit movies, that feel a bit like "wrapped in their own bubble".
